Even though the month of January is seen as cold and miserable, straight after all the excitement and joy of Christmas time, it doesn’t mean that the people born during that period are too. There are so many influential women born in January that we have just had to compile a list of the ‘Top Three Queens’ who came into existence during this time! Here’s the short list of amazing women that make you want to say yes Queen!
#3 Emma Bunton
Born on the 21st January 1976, the British pop star brought spice to her life from an early age! She was a talented child, always in the spotlight in music and television. Nicknamed Baby Spice, Emma is best known for her place in the girl group the Spice Girls formed in 1994. With hit songs such as ‘Wannabe’
and ‘Spice Up Your Life’ global success it the band and they became one of the most well known girl group in the world. However, this didn’t come with out its struggles and even after their devastating yet eventual break up in 2000, she continues to be a role model for girls to this day.
Emma still earns her Queen status from her TV and radio appearances. She began hosting her own Saturday afternoon radio show on the popular Heart radio and won the TRIC award for Radio Personality of the Year in 2014. She’s really been there and got the Queen Born In January T-shirt!
Being the strong, independent woman she is, Emma has made the decision not to get married as she doesn’t need a wedding to justify her relationship. She has two children, Beau and Tate with husband, lead singer in the band Damage, Jade Jones. Emma won the Foxy Bingo Awards for Celebrity Mum of the Year in 2013 so is bossing it even in her family life!
#2 Michelle Obama
The former First Lady of the United States of America is undoubtedly one of the most influential modern women today. She is a role model to both girls and boys alike and inspires them to pursue their dreams and careers, just as she did. Born January 17th, 1964, Michelle grew up in Chicago, Illinois with her parents and brother, and was very close to her grandparents. After graduating law school, she began working for the law firm Sidley & Austin, where she met Barack, her future husband.
During Michelle’s time as FLOTUS, she worked hard campaigning and protesting for many great causes in and out of the public eye. She visited homeless shelters and soup kitchens, supporting her husband’s views to promote bills for these causes. One of her most well known views, is her beliefs on LGBT rights. She promoted these rights and did an unbelievable job of normalising many of the views people were afraid to talk about. Her fights against hate crimes and HIV and AIDS have not gone unnoticed by both members of the LGBT community and beyond. In 2009, Michelle was named ‘Most Fascinating Person of the Year’ and we definitely have to agree with that title and is a Queen is our eyes.
#1 Kate Middleton
Catherine Duchess of Cambridge is as close to a Queen as we can get! Born on the 9th of January 1982 and at 36 years of age, she already has 3 children in line for the throne with her husband and future King of the United Kingdom, Prince William. She was born at Royal Berkshire Hospital and grew up in an upper-middle-class family in the English city of Reading.
Kate has had a huge impact of social culture with her fashion statements being called The ‘Kate Middleton Effect’. Whether she is out with the family or attending a royal event, she always looks perfectly dressed in the latest and most stylish outfits which people all around the world flock to buy. She was voted as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2012 and 2013, probably due to her bold fashion choices. Her most well known look has to be the gown she wore to her wedding in April 2011. The dress was designed by Sarah Burton, creative director for Alexander McQueen and is one of the most talked about dresses of the past century. If this lace number didn’t make Kate look like a Queen, then we don’t know what would!
So, that’s our shortlist of our top three Queens who happen to be born in January. Could you be the next Kate, Michelle or Emma? If you happen to share this birthday month with these inspiring women then let us know if you agree with the line up in the comments.
