The Beauty of Amish Furniture

I live in the heart of Amish Country. I grew up in the Appalachian counties of Ohio. There are many Amish communities in this area, and with that comes many Amish businesses. I used to relish in their cheese and fudge as a kid. However, these days I see that the true beauty is held within their furniture. Just by passing by one of their country stores, you can see the true craftsmanship in their woodwork. A thing of true beauty, these pieces are hard earned and handmade, something this world tends to lack anymore.

Some of the most beautiful pieces of woodwork I see are Amish Gazebos. These handcrafted pieces of beauty are just so dazzling. The perfect addition to any yard, garden or wedding; they truly are hard to pass by. I think what makes them so visually appealing is knowing the history behind some of the most beautiful built lawn pieces. The rich history of the Amish is one that is sure to sparkle for many years to come.

What is also appealing about these gazebos is that you can get them and build them at home! Assembling the prepacked, premade pieces is rather simple and gives you a sense of accomplishment once completed. Though, of course, if you are someone of limited time, there are always options to have it set up for you. Either way, the sense of knowing you made the right decision is never a hard one when you buy something of the best quality.

Another appealing fact about these gazebos are that they are made from real wood. No particle board or laminate, both of which is easily damaged by rain. The aspect of real wood not only gives you confidence that it will last but also allows you to enjoy one of the best smells known to man. Breathing in the smell of fresh, solid wood, takes me back to my childhood–watching my dad pick out lumber or seeing a family member come home from logging. As soon as I smell that fresh cut wood, the senses in my nose, activate those of my memory and for a moment I am taken back to the past. For a moment, time travel is possible, and I get to relive all those glorious moments again.

On the topic of wood, another great thing about any Amish furniture is that there is always a huge choice of types of woods to choose from, cedar and pine or white oak, beech, maple, elm or even walnut and hickory. All of these options make it perfect for someone who prefers a certain smell or even a certain color wood.

The Amish are known for their quality furniture, so it is no surprise that their gazebos would also be flawless masterpieces. The history and hard work alone are enough to convince someone to purchase one of these long-standing staples of Amish heritage. As a true-blue Ohioan, who grew up next to the Amish community, I would always recommend anything Amish made.
